Getting started

Do I need an account to read IMDb Discussions?

Yes. You need to be signed in to an IMDb account to read and participate in discussions. If you don't have an account, you can create one at imdb.com/registration/signin.

If you're already an Amazon customer, you can sign in with your Amazon account. If available in your location, Amazon customers will be automatically signed into IMDb.com with your existing Amazon account. For more information, see our guide.

Where can I find IMDb Discussions?

This feature is currently only available in the US and Canada as part of a limited Beta. When accessing IMDb from one of these countries, IMDb Discussions appear on select Interest pages. Look for the discussions tab on the page, or select the "See all discussions" link to open the full discussion feed. The following interests have the discussions feature:

• Marvel, DC, The Hunger Games (Franchises)
• Horror (Genre)
• Period Drama, Dark Fantasy (Subgenres)

Age verification

Why do I need to verify my age?

IMDb Services are for use by individuals aged 18 and over. Before accessing the full discussion feed for the first time, you'll be asked to confirm that you meet this requirement.

How does age verification work?

When you first visit IMDb Discussions, you'll see a simple prompt asking you to confirm you are over 18. Once you confirm, the verification is saved to your account; you won't be asked again on future visits.

Participating in IMDb Discussions

How do I start a discussion?

1. Go to the discussions tab on an Interest page and select "Start a topic" to create a new post.
2. Write your message and select Post.

How do I reply to someone?

Select Reply beneath any post to respond directly. Your reply will appear nested under the original post.

How do I react to a post?

Select the reaction icon beneath any post to add your reaction. You can change or remove your reaction at any time.

Can I edit or delete my post?

Yes. Select the "..." menu on your own post and select Edit or Delete.

How do I add a spoiler warning?

When writing a post, enable the Spoiler warning toggle before posting. This hides your post content behind a warning label, and other users can choose to reveal it. Use this whenever your post contains crucial plot details, endings, or other content that could spoil the entertainment experience for others. You can also prevent yourself from seeing spoilers in an entire discussion by using the "Hide spoilers" toggle.

How do I mention an IMDb Name or Title page in a post?

Type the @ symbol and then start typing the name of the person or title you want to mention. A search suggestion will appear, select the name or title you want from the list to add it to your post.

Our Community Guidelines (terms) are designed to maintain a fun, safe, and healthy environment for all.

When participating in IMDb Discussions, please:

• Be respectful. Treat others with kindness and respect. Personal attacks, harassment, or discriminatory language (about race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or any other characteristic) aren't welcome here.
• Stay on topic. Keeping dicussions relevant to the topic being discussed. Avoid derailing conversations with unrelated topics.
• Use spoiler tags. When discussing major plot points like character deaths or endings, use spoiler tags to protect the entertainment experience of others. That way, you and other fans can engage in discussions spoiler-free!
• Keep it clean. No profane, obscene, nude or sexually explicit content.
• Protect privacy. Don't share sensitive personal or identifying information (phone numbers, emails, or physical addresses) - yours or anyone else's.
• No links or spam. Don't post external (non-IMDb) URLs, promotional content, advertisements, or spam of any kind.
• No impersonation. Don't impersonate any person or entity (e.g. including "IMDb" in usernames or profile images).
• Write in English. Posts in IMDb Discussions should be in English only. Posts in unsupported languages will not be posted.

Posts that violate our community guidelines will be removed, and repeat violations may result in suspension of your ability to participate in IMDb Discussions.

How do I report a post that violates the guidelines?

Select the "..." menu on any post and select "Report". Our moderation team will review the report and take action if the post violates our guidelines.

About the Beta

What does "Beta" mean?

Beta means this feature is still in active development and is available to a limited group of users before a wider release. While you use it, we're gathering feedback and making ongoing improvements. You may encounter bugs, or notice the feature changing over time. That is part of the process, and your feedback directly helps us shape the feature.

How long will the Beta run?

The Beta does not have a fixed end date. We will move out of Beta when we're confident the feature is working well and delivering a great experience for fans. That decision is based on how the feature is developing and how the community is engaging with it.

What happens after the Beta?

If the IMDb Discussions feature moves to a full launch, everything you posted during the Beta (your posts, replies, and reactions) will carry over automatically. You will not need to do anything.
