Overview
IMDb Labs is a space on IMDb where you can try early features before they're fully developed, and help us decide what to add to IMDb next. Each feature in IMDb Labs is an experiment: a working prototype the IMDb team is developing. You can try experiments, vote on the ones you like, and leave feedback for the team behind each one.
As these are experiments, things may break or change. An experiment can be added, updated, or removed at any time. "Labs" is the name of the feature area, not a separate product.
To explore IMDb Labs, go to imdb.com/labs in your web browser and sign in to your IMDb account.

How to access IMDb Labs
- Go to imdb.com/labs in a web browser on any device.
- Sign in to your IMDb account.
- Browse the gallery of experiments (featured experiments appear at the top).
- Select any experiment card to open its detail page and learn more.
Sign in to your IMDb account to browse and use Labs. Visit "Signing in to Labs" below for more detail.
Trying an experiment
- From the IMDb Labs home page, select an experiment card, or select "Try it" to open it.
- The experiment opens in your browser. Use the toolbar at the top to navigate, open feedback, or return to the home page.
- Select the "Labs" logo at any time to return to the Labs home page.
If an experiment won't load, it may briefly be inactive. Try again later, or return to IMDb Labs to explore others.
Voting on an experiment
Your votes tell us which experiments you'd like to become a part of IMDb.
- Open an experiment, or find its card in the gallery.
- Select the thumbs up (like) or thumbs down (dislike) control.
- You can change your vote at any time.
Try an experiment first, then you can vote on it. If voting isn't showing, open the experiment and use it before voting.
Leaving feedback
Many experiments include a short feedback prompt so you can tell the team what you think.
- Open an experiment.
- Select "Open feedback" in the toolbar.
- Answer the questions shown, or leave a comment, then submit.
Your feedback goes directly to the team building that experiment and helps them decide what we build next.

Browsing by category
Experiments are sorted into groups so you can find what interests you. These categories can change as we add new experiments.
- Games & Trivia: hands-on games, quizzes, and trivia tests.
- Discovery & Recs: tools that help you find what to watch.
- Social & Sharing: ways to share picks with others.
- Browse & Explore: ways to browse titles and track what you're watching.
To filter, use the group controls at the top of the Labs home page. Select “All” to view everything.
Signing in to IMDb Labs
Sign in to your IMDb account to use IMDb Labs. Signing in lets you:
- Browse the full gallery of experiments.
- Try experiments.
- Vote on experiments.
- Leave feedback.
- Save your progress and have it sync with features like your Watchlist and ratings.
To sign in, select “Sign in to join IMDb Labs” from the Labs home page, or “Sign in to try it” on an experiment.

What is an "experiment" in IMDb Labs?
An experiment is an early, unfinished feature the IMDb team is testing. It may change, break, or be removed as we learn from your feedback.
Why did an experiment disappear?
Experiments don't last forever. We add, update, and retire them based on feedback and results. Some may graduate into IMDb, while others may be retired.
Do I need an IMDb account to use Labs?
Yes. Sign in to your IMDb account to browse and try the experiments in Labs, vote, leave feedback, and save your progress.
An experiment won't load. What do I do?
Experiments can briefly be inactive, please try again later. If the problem continues, return to Labs and explore other experiments.
